Across the Divide
Installation at Gwangju Art Museum, Gwangju, South Korea, 2005

Across the Divide is a dialogue between past and present, east and west using architectural elements. I focused on details of elements found in religious buildings: the floral design found in traditional Korean shrines and temples, and the grid found on the New York Presbyterian Church in Sunnyside, Queens.

Installation view: Two facing walls, pencil, acrylic, sanded and polished wall

Lines
Museo de Arte de Puerto Rico, San Juan, Puerto Rico, 2006

Lines, an eight-part work, are views of passing clouds seen from a stationary point of view. The foreground is crossed by power lines, which are placed in the same position in all the works. The panels are paired. The second of each pair shows a subtle shift in time as clouds pass by.
